THE LIGHT-GUIDE MANDIBULAR
NERVE
Our mandibular simulators are
equipped with an X-Ray transparent canal and a light-guide
mandibular nerve. The light-guide nerve allows to monitor the
nerve's integrity, and therefore check the correctness of the
surgical procedures. The outcoming section of the nerve can
be surgically isolated, as shown in our User's guide on DVD.
The integrity test for the nerve
is very simple: just let the light from a curing lamp or a
laser pointer income the light-guide at one end and check if
the light is emerging from the other end. If this doesn't happen,
a nerve damage occurred.
